2008 PSWGA Junior Girls' Championship - Final Results

If anyone believes junior golf isn't competitive, they are mistaken. The only two players to shoot all three rounds in the 70's needed an extra hole to settle the quest for the 2008 Junior Girls' title. Jacqueline Calamaro of Rolling Green and Christine Shimel of Hartefeld National Golf Club finished regulation play at 228 - and it was Calamaro who emerged the champion after the first playoff hole. Emily Riddle finished in third, five shots back at 233. Our medalist, Samantha Arena, struggled a bit with a closing 84 to finish fourth.

First Flight honors go to Jenna Rinker of Oakview Golf Club with a 258 total. Alex Liu of Commonweath National finishes with a total of 261, and Emily Gimpel of Whitemarsh Valley CC is third place, first flight carding a 263 for the championship.

In the Second Flight, Lauren Bernard of Rivercrest shot a collective 276 to take first flight honors. Mary Eighmy of The Kahkwa Club is second on a match of cards with Kelly Ann Sullivan of Concord CC following in third. Both Kelly and Mary finished with a three day total of 284.

And we're saving the best and youngest for last. The PSWGA started our "Junior-Junior" championship, open to young ladies ages 14 and under. The three day event for our Junior-Juniors is played at nine holes per round, giving them the opportunity to compete against players of their own age and ability at a state level.

Congratulations to Madelein Herr of Jericho National, with a three day total of 167. Ellen Eighmy of The Kahkwa Club follows with a fine 184, and Caroline Hill of Philadelphia CC garners third place with a championship total of 212. We hope to see all back next year!
