Carol Semple Thompson Inducted Into The World Golf Hall Of Fame
"American golf has been blessed by several extraordinary amateur champions who have played the game at the highest level and one of the new inductees into the World Golf Hall of Fame for 2008 is a Pennsylvania native, Carol Semple Thompson." - - The World Golf Hall of Fame
Anyone who has followed women's golf in the United States has heard of our own Carol Semple Thompson - and now the world will know her as well.
Carol's list of accomplishments is remarkable to say the least. And with all her golfing success, Carol has given back to the game as a member of the USGA's Executive Committee, volunteered many hours at golf clinics and dinners, as well as served on the committee for the new Arnold Palmer Center for Golf History at the USGA's headquarters in Far Hills, NJ. Carol has also served as President of the PSWGA.
Among her accomplishments in the game, Carol is the only player to participate in twelve Curtis Cup Teams - twice as it's victorious Captain. When you include over twenty PSWGA State Championship titles, seven USGA titles and qualifying for over 100 USGA Championships, it's no wonder Carol received the "call to the Hall".
Please join the Board of Directors, past and present, and the entire PSWGA family in congratulating Carol on this remarkable achievement. The PSWGA also invites you to click here to view Carol's pages on the World Golf Hall of Fame website. The USGA's website has several articles, including this article by Ken Klavon of the USGA.
Carol - well deserved and well done!
