Tournament Director Johnsie Irwin has announced the 2010 PSWGA Junior Girls' Championship at Butler Country Club will now be held on June 28 - 30, 2010.

Jackie Calamaro wins second state title of 2009 season
Our reigning PSWGA Junior Girls' Champion capped a great 2009 season today with her second state title of the year. Jackie Calamaro (Radnor) fired a two day total of six-over par (76-74-150) to win the PIAA State Girls' Golf Championship at Heritage Hills Golf Course in York, PA.
Aurora Kan (Chichester) placed second with a two day total of 74-80-154, Miranda Santucci (Winchester Thurston) took third place, two shots behind Kan (75-81-156).
The top ten finishers at the PIAA Golf Championship are medalists. The top ten competitors are:

Thursday Semi-Final Results!
The “new gal on the Super Senior block” announced her presence in the division by firing a 1-over par round through 11 holes to dethrone the defending 2008 Super Senior champion. Bonnie George of Huntingdon Valley (Philmont Country Club) played a magnificent round enroute to a 8 & 7 victory over 2008 defending champion Maisie Barlow of Blue Bell (Sunnybrook Golf Club). Congratulations to both on a fine tournament.
The Amateur Championship lost the medalist in the semi-final match, as Aurora Kan of Boothwyn (Hartfeld National GC) lost to Margaret Pentrack of Pittsburgh (Pittsburgh Field Club), 3 & 1, in a well played match. Pentrack will now face Jordan Craig of Connellsville (Greensburg CC), the 2006 Amateur Runner-Up and 2004 Junior Champion after Craig won over Allison Cooper of Harrisburg (Felicita Golf Resort), 7 & 5, here at The Kahkwa Club this afternoon. Craig and Pentrack will tee it up for the 2009 PSWGA Amateur Championship trophy tomorrow morning at 8:50am.
In the Amateur First Flight semi-final matches, Kendall Allen of Pittsburgh (Longue Vue) defeated Beverly Pike of York (Regents’ Glen CC) in a close match with a final of 1 up on the 18th hole. Colleen Miller of Erie (Lake View CC) came up short in her match against 22-time Amateur champion Carol Semple-Thompson of Sewickley (Allegheny Country Club), losing by a 2 & 1 decision. Allen and Semple-Thompson will square off at 8:30am in the finals of First Flight.
In the Amateur Second Flight semis, Laura Burkholder of Erie (Downing CC) defeated Emily Quinn of Lancaster (Four Seasons GC), 5&4. Burkholder will meet Karlie Zabrosky of Erie (Lawrence Park Golf Club) tomorrow morning at 8:10am, as Zabrosky won over Megan Moylan of North East (Green Meadows GC), 6 & 5 this afternoon.
Moving to the Senior Division, the 2009 champion continues to march toward a successful title defense after a 2 Up victory earlier today. Noreen Mohler of Bethlehem (Northampton CC) defeated Sue Colton of Butler (Butler CC) on the 18th hole to advance to the finals against A.K. Frazier of Haverford (Gulph Mills GC). Frazier won her match against Barbara Pagana of Selinsgrove (Susquehanna Valley CC) with a 1 Up victory after 20 holes of play. Mohler and Frazier will tee off at 8:40am Friday morning to decide the 2009 Senior Championship.
The Senior First Flight finals are set after Joyce Herr of Millersville (Lancaster Host Golf Resort) won over Beverly Jennings, 7 & 6. Herr will meet Patty Lang of Saegertown (The Country Club) tomorrow morning at 8:20am to decide the First Flight winner. Lang won her match over Norma Efremenko of Wexford (Wildwood Golf Club) with a 3 & 2 win.
The Senior Second Flight is also set with Barbara Blanchard of Mendenhall (Downing Country Club) taking a 3 & 2 win over MaryLou Fedorko of Erie (The Kahkwa Club) this afternoon. Blanchard will now face Diane Stickell of Girard (Elk Valley Country Club) after Stickell’s 2 & 1 win over Barbara Maier of Danville (Frosty Valley CC). The two will lead off the finals with a 8:00am tee time tomorrow.
The public is invited to watch Pennsylvania’s finest women amateur golfers go for the title of ‘best amateur golfer in Pennsylvania’ tomorrow morning at the Kahkwa Club in Erie starting at 8:00am.
Wednesday Results - Match Play at 2009 PSWGA Championships
It’s the second match play round of the PSWGA Championships – and two things stand out. First is the weather – cooperating well today, with no downpours as were here in Erie yesterday. Second is the Amateur medalist is still in the mix, along with the defending Senior and Super Senior champions from ’08 still in the title hunt as well.
Amateur medalist Aurora Kan defeated Ali Bode in a great match, finishing with a 3 & 2 win. Jordan Craig advances in the upper bracket of the Amateur Championship by defeating the defending 2008 champion, Brittany Benvenuto in a close match, 2 & 1. Craig meets Cooper in the semi-finals tomorrow morning at the 8:24am teeoff.
Allison Cooper also had a close match with Kristen Obush, dispatching Obush with a 2 & 1 victory. Margaret Pentrack defeated Jenna Rothermel by a 4 & 3 decision to complete the Amateur Championship play for Wednesday. Kan will play Pentrack at 8:32am in the semi-finals Thursday.
In the Senior Division, Noreen Mohler is still in defense of her 2008 Senior title with a 3 & 1 win over Liz Haines of Philadelphia, 3 & 1. Sue Colton completes the lower match in the upper bracket with a 5 & 4 win over Judy Owens this afternoon. Mohler and Colton meet tomorrow morning at 8:40am for the semi-finals.
Barb Pagana starts the lower bracket in the Senior Division with a 1 Up win over Lisa Dichter. Alexandra Fraizer defeated Connie Shorb with a 3 & 2 decision, setting up the 8:48am semi-final match between Pagana and Fraizer.
The Super Senior Division has 2008 champion Maise Barlow winning two matches today to advance to the finals tomorrow, defeating Jan Burns 2 & 1 and in the second round defeated Judy Wolstenholme by the same margin. Judy Wolstenholme faced Barlow after a 1 Up win over Judy Cooke earlier this morning.
In the lower brackets, the newcomer to the Super Senior divison, Bonnie George, defeated Ruby Carmon 5 & 3 and then defeated Kathy Myers in the afternoon match with a 6 & 5 win. Myers advanced to meet Barlow after defeating Betty Love in the morning match, 6 & 5.
The Super Senior Championship gets underway at 8:00am Thursday morning at the Kahkwa Club. The public is welcome to watch some of the finest women amateur players at the matches tomorrow at the Kahkwa Club.
